Church Amazing–The Rock’s Rock
The Millennium Temple, though gigantic, pales in comparism to the 50,000 capacity world-record holding, Faith Tabernacle of Bishop David Oyedepo. The building took 12 months to be completed. Faith Tabernacle is presently the largest church building in the world, with a sitting capacity of 50,400 people and an outside overflow capacity of over 250,000, with four services every Sunday. Construction completed in Canaanland till date is estimated at no less than $600 million(N90 Billion), with an additional Canaan City Estate currently in construction, which will be the largest housing estate in Africa and easily one of the largest in the world with 15,000 housing units and at a cost of N250 Billion or $1.6 Billion.
Another Cathedral of note is the National Temple of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, which took about 25 years of construction work to be completed. The Temple, touted as the largest church in the world, has a sitting capacity of 100,000 worshippers at a time.

The venue was behind Germaine Autos, the place the Rock Cathedral, aka Millennium Temple and the aworship team flew in on Friday both for sauce, the worship-place and tunnel.
Bishop Bismarck & Bishop Francis
After one encounter with one of the A-list guest in his reserved suit on the Island. Saturday beckoned, it was the opening, and President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was special guest, while former British Prime Minister Tony Blair delivered the keynote address.
Security was water tight but organization was gbam bam as one of our editors would say. The atmosphere truly reflected that ‘House on the Rock’ catch home for all.
The Sunday event was a church activity that witnessed the formal dedication of the facility as the Metropolitan Church of Christ, Lagos, the mother church of all House On The Rock churches worldwide. And the list was intimidating John Praise, Dr. Kola Akinboboye, Prof Danny McCain, Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Ola Makinde; Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Dr. Mike Okonkwo; President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Rev. (Dr.) Felix Omobude; Bishop Tudor Bismarck of the Jabula New Life Ministries, Zimbabwe; Bishop John Francis of the Ruach Ministries, United Kingdom, and Bishop Wayne Malcolm of iCan Ministries also in the United Kingdom. Dr. Wale Adefarasin, and many other top notch men of God as the rituals were carried out.
So back to Saturday President Goodluck Jonathan and former Prime Minister of Britain, Tony Blair were there in full force and your sauce was served the aworship style.
The church built in eight years, is now valued at about $85million (N13.4 billion), according to what the founding pastor of the church, Paul Adefarasin the Metropolitan man told us.
At the unveiling ceremony of the 9,000 seater church, Jonathan urged Nigerians to demonstrate unfailing love for the country notwithstanding the current challenges confronting the nation.
He said for Nigeria to be a better place, there should be collective efforts of every individual and the communities.
“I appreciate all for giving me the opportunity. I thank all Nigerians for what they are doing for the country. Because of the intercessory prayers, the country is stabilized,” he said.
The president said transformation could not be effective without passing through challenges. He then assured Nigerians that whatever challenges the country is passing through now, will end in joy.
“When we work hard, we will take our country where we want it to be,’’ he said and urged Nigerian youths not to relent in working with the government for the betterment of the country.
“Nigerian youths, we reassure you that we will continue to work together, do our best for the country as a nation. When we work together, we will overcome the challenges in the country.
Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Tony Blair, said for total transformation to take place, Nigerians should work hard and see themselves as one and do away with religious differences.
Blair said that Nigeria is a country endowed with great potential, hence, the need for total transformation.
“Nigeria should be hopeful because of its people. Nigeria will be built by the strength and dedication of Nigerians. There is no progress in the midst of violence,” Blair said.
He urged the Federal Government to put opportunities in the hands of many not few, and appealed to Nigerians and religious bodies to tolerate one another and give room for religious reconciliation.
Rev. Paul Adefarasin, the Senior Metropolitan Pastor of the Church, said there was hope for Nigeria in spite of the challenges ravaging the country.
The edifice bears testimony to the ideology nay swagger of the founder, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, who advocates that the church should not only be for worship but also serve as a home for all to celebrate diversity and foster cultural and national unity and to be a bridge across nations, to transform the world.
Fondly called ‘Pastor Paul’, Adefarasin and seen by his swelling number of members as a leader who is not just a critic of the ills besetting the nation but an activist, passionate and deeply involved to contribute to the healing and reformation of the nation, told us in a chat ” yes I am a billionaire, a pastor of billionaires is a billionaire…”
The Cathedral which was dedicated as a social justice and community centre, the headquarters of its administrative operations: as an institute for good governance, transformation and leadership training, the Rock Foundation for community development, education, healthcare, social rehabilitation, sports and recreation…bears the billionaire mark.
The significance lies in the fact that the church is going to move faster and with greater impact in not only changing Christianity but also in the transformation of this nation and the world and it will serve Presiding Metropolitan Senior Pastor Adefarasin as a permanent and purpose built headquarters for all activities of his church and foundation.
And just in case you don’t know–this is it.
